28th Anniversary! (04/29/1995 - 04/29/2023)
We opened our doors on Saturday, April 29, 1995, and because of people like you, we are still here at the same location in Hamden so many years later. Retail has changed drastically since then with widespread online shopping and many big stores having closed down for good, but we are grateful to still be here to help everyone with all of their backyard birding needs and any other ways to enjoy nature all around us. The pandemic threw another wrench in the works 3 years ago but we found a way to keep things going with curbside pickup only for 3 solid months at the start of it and then continuing to adapt with supply chain issues or some products we stocked for years just no longer being available. But through it all you all supported us and we can never thank you guys enough.
Fall Slowdown At The Bird Feeders!

Fall is usually a time of plenty and this year is no exception. The vast majority of us are not seeing as many birds or squirrels at our feeders but this is actually a normal part of nature, at least in years where there is an abundance of natural food, which we have. Last year was different where we had a significant drought instead. That may have caused a loss of some of the seeds and berries that the birds feed on this time of year, so everyone was still pretty active at our feeders.
People often theorize that their local hawk is causing all their birds to disappear, or that there was some kind of mass die-off. Fortunately, at least in this case, there is an over-abundance of natural foods, but this will soon change. Once the birds and squirrels have gathered or eaten all the nuts and berries, they will come back to the feeders and life will get back to normal (believe me, we miss seeing you all!).
Curbside Pickup
Wanted to remind everyone that are still offering "curbside pickup" for anyone that doesn't feel comfortable going inside any stores or just is running short on time. Just give us a call (203) 248-7068 with your order and we will bring it out to your car for you when you arrive.
