Many squirrel baffles out there on the market do not work and leave many people frustrated in their quest to keep squirrels off of their feeders. We have been in business for 25 years and have the experience to know which squirrel baffles in fact do work when installed correctly. Pole squirrel baffles need to be on a tall enough pole so that the top of the baffle is at least 4 ft from the ground so that any good jumpers can’t make the leap over them. The pole itself also needs to be at least 8-10 ft away from any trees or other structures that a squirrel could launch themselves from over to the feeder setup. If you can reach these minimum requirements with your desired bird feeding pole and location, then we have a variety of squirrel baffle options for you.
All of our pole squirrel baffles are made in Chicago, IL by Erva and constructed of powder coated steel. These will hold up well over time and can’t be chewed by squirrels in an attempt to work their way around them. We also have a longer baffle that can help keep bigger raccoons off of your feeding setups as well if you run into this problem in your yard.
If you want to squirrel proof a feeder from above there aren’t many solutions that are truly effective, but one that is under the right circumstances is the Mandarin Hanging Squirrel Baffle. Your feeder must be hanging at least 7 ft away from the trunk of the tree that it is in and only be able to attempt to get to the feeder from directly above. This baffle comes with a metal hanging chain and has a lifetime warranty against squirrel damage.
